About US
Our Story
Mark Shively founded Shoe Stop in Owensboro, KY in 1999. After 21 years in the footwear business working for others, he finally took a leap of faith & invested in his own dreams! By 2002, he was able to expand to a second location in Mt.Vernon, IL. Mark's business strategy was simple; the right selection, quality products, competitive prices, knowledgeable staff- but above all else: joyfully provide customers with top notch service...service with a servants heart!
Over the course of 25 years, Mark & his team continued to grow & maintain a loyal customer following by staying true to those founding principals.
In 2024, Mark tragically succumbed to a long battle with cancer - passing on his legacy & ownership of the stores into the hands of long time family employees; his step-daughter, Lexie, & his two sisters, Julie & Tammy.
We are committed to continuing to make him proud up there, as well as serving our beloved customers with nothing less than the best!
